Local Lead Generation

In May 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, I took the initiative to expand my skillset and dive into the world of digital marketing. This project gave me the opportunity to explore and implement various SEO strategies. Through lots of trial and error, I found success in driving buyer-motivated leads to my clients' businesses.

Process

1. Market Reasearch

I conducted market research across various local towns and cities, utilizing Majestic and SEMRush to analyze the Domain Authority, backlinks, and content of top-ranking websites in multiple niches, ultimately identifying three low-hanging fruit niches: drywall, tree care, and landscaping.

2. Building Websites

For each niche, I built a lead generating website using WordPress. I conducted keyword research to find buyer-motivated search terms, then wrote content for those search terms such as education on how to DIY your own home projects, or answering frequently asked questions. I also designed the websites to make it as easy as possible for visitors to make a call or submit their information in a form. Lastly, I built Facebook pages for each website to increase web presence.

3. Tracking

Software

I used a call tracking software so I could accurately determine how many phone calls I was able to generate from each website and the corresponding Facebook page. For form submissions I created a gmail account for each website so I could see what kinds of services potential customers were looking for. Then, I forwarded both the phone calls and the form submissions to local business owners looking to take on more work.

4. Increasing

Visibility

My main goal was to get my websites to rank on the first page of Google and take up as much real estate as possible, which I was able to accomplish with 2 of my websites: tree care and landscaping. I did this by targeting low-hanging fruit keywords, writing quality content, and increasing the Domain Authority of my sites via external back linking. Then to further increase visibility I ran Google Ads.
